This is an in-person, satellite workshop of the AAPS PharmSci 360 conference. This introductory educational course provides participants with a practical introduction to state-of-the-art PBBM and PBPK modeling workflows in GastroPlus®. Designed for academic and industry scientists, the course combines scientific principles, real-world applications, and hands-on demonstrations across two complementary sessions.
The first session focuses on PBBM for oral drug products, including how to initiate a modeling project and apply advanced workflows for formulation development and regulatory decision-making. Key topics include mechanistic particle-size distribution (P-PSD) modeling, in vitro–in vivo correlations (IVIVC), and virtual bioequivalence (VBE).
The second session explores PBPK modeling in special populations, with a particular focus on pediatric populations. Participants will learn how the GastroPlus API can automate simulations across age groups, identify subpopulations at increased risk of altered drug exposure, and generate standardized reports. The session will also discuss how these automated workflows can be extended to other special populations.
Prior experience with GastroPlus is helpful but not required.

- No prior experience with the GastroPlus API is required.
- Participants should have a basic understanding of PBBM/PBPK and drug development concepts.
- Familiarity with GastroPlus and/or R is helpful but not necessary.
