Dr. Dong is Regents’ Professor and Leon H. Charbonnier Endowed Chair at Medical College of Georgia of Augusta University and the Director of Research at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in USA. His research revolves around the mechanisms of cell injury/death, its protection, and subsequent regeneration in kidney diseases including acute kidney injury and diabetic kidney disease. He has published more than 280 full-length articles in regarded journals that have been cited for over 20,000 times. Dr. Dong serves on national and international review panels for funding agencies in USA, China, UK, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Sigapore. He has been a member of the AKI Advisory Committee and section chair of AKI Basic Science Review Committee for the American Soceity of Nephrology. He also served as the President of Chinese American Society of Nephrology in 2010-2013 Dr. Dong is currently an associate editor for American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology and Kidney Disease. He also is an active editorial board member for major research journals, including Journal of American Society of Nephrology, Kidney International, and American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology.
