Dr. Lakhani’s primary role is to improve the SimPops capabilities, including size and tools, across all DSSI software. Additionally, he contributes to model development for DILIsym, RENAsym, and RADAsym, and is often placed on DILIsym consulting projects. DSSI has been an ideal fit for Dr. Lakhani, given his interests, graduate training, and post-doctoral experience.
Prior to joining DSSI, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Battelle Center for Mathematical Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. There, he developed a statistical model to investigate the interactions between the most common bacterial species found in children’s ear infections.
In 2015, Dr. Lakhani earned a PhD in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with further training in biochemistry and biophysics. His graduate work investigated inter- and intra-cell communication using particle-based stochastic reaction-diffusion models. His Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics minors, earned in 2008, is also from UNC.
